Meiarth Welsh Maid was born in 1940, she was by Llethi Valiant, out of Meiarth Pride. She was dark bay with a star and stood at 15hh. Meiarth Welsh Maid stood out as the tallest competing show ring mare during the years 1947 to 1960 and as such met with varying fortunes either doing very well such as winning the Royal Welsh Championships awards in 1947, 1949, 1950 and 1954 or if the judge went for the smaller more compact type of Welsh Cob she would end up down the line such as fifth in 1951 and seventh in 1955.
